What you can do

Use the supported API and MCP resources within the content tier and request limits assigned to your invite.
Build products, internal tools, analysis, journalism or research only where your invite and each upstream source licence permit that use.
Cache the minimum responses your application needs, subject to the applicable source licence and the redistribution restriction below.
Display facts in your site or app while preserving the source-specific attribution exposed with the records.
Embed visualisations in articles, blog posts, papers, social media.
Quote individual rows in news coverage. We'd love a link, we don't require one.

What you cannot do — the redistribution clause

You may not redistribute the foot.io dataset, or any significant subset, in raw or near-raw form (CSV, JSON, SQL dump, scraped HTML cache, vector store, training corpus offered to third parties).

"Significant subset" means roughly: more than 5,000 rows from any single resource, or any export that would let a third party avoid obtaining its own authorised access. The only exception is a bulk-export right granted in writing under an Enterprise agreement; no self-serve tier includes one. Rate and usage telemetry may be retained for operating, securing and auditing the beta. The service does not promise that every response is watermarked, that synthetic rows are inserted, or that a fixed log-retention period applies.

What we can do

Rate-limit your account to your tier.
Suspend accounts engaged in obvious abuse (10× tier limit sustained, attempting auth bypass, hitting honeypot endpoints).
Change or withdraw beta pricing concepts, limits and endpoints; there is no generally available service or advertised SLA yet.
Pursue civil remedies — including injunctive relief — against parties who breach the redistribution clause and refuse to take down the redistributed data.

Data accuracy

We aim to be the most accurate football database available. We will be wrong sometimes. Report errors to hello@foot.io and we'll fix them. We make no warranty of fitness for any specific purpose, especially for high-stakes decisions like betting, transfers, or contracts.

Source attribution

Source provenance is exposed where available through source fields, external IDs and provenance resources, but legacy coverage is not complete. A generic “Data: foot.io” credit does not replace an upstream licence or attribution requirement. You are responsible for checking the source attached to the records you use, especially for commercial use, model training or redistribution.

Closed-beta access

Keys are invite-only and can expire or be withdrawn; signup is a waitlist, not instant account creation.
The public preview and issued free keys can read canonical season- and match-scoped facts only for seasons explicitly marked current.
Keys assigned basic, pro or enterprise can read indexed historical depth, subject to coverage and source rights.
Request limits are assigned per key. No SLA or webhooks are generally offered. Bulk snapshot exports are not included in Free, Indie or Pro keys; they exist only where an Enterprise agreement grants them in writing.

Research and open-source access

Research and open-source requests are considered case by case at hello@foot.io. Approval does not imply a fixed quota, historical depth, commercial right or waiver of upstream licence terms.

Liability

foot.io's total liability for any claim arising from your use of the service is capped at the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us in the preceding 12 months. We're not liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages.

Governing law

England & Wales. Disputes resolved in the London courts.

Plain-English summary. Closed-beta access is permissioned, limits and historical depth follow the key you receive, and upstream source terms still apply. Build within those rights; do not dump or resell the database.
